The
Lake Forest Community presents “Fort 'Blunder' and Fort
Montgomery: A Closer Look- The real and continuing story behind
the great stone forts at Rouses Point" with Jim Millard.
The ruins of old Fort Montgomery have fascinated local residents and
travelers crossing the Rouses Point, New York- Alburgh, Vermont Bridge
for generations. Long a feature of North Country legend, it has for an
equally long time been difficult to sort the truth from the myth about
the ruins known to locals as "Fort Blunder.” Fort Montgomery historian
and author Jim Millard will discuss many of the misconceptions about
this mysterious structure and will share dozens of vintage photographs,
plans and maps. He will also share the fascinating story of recent
developments regarding the fort (including an upcoming special on the
History Channel) and highlight the remarkable cleanup of the ruins
leading up to the successful Fort Montgomery Days event this past
September.
All four of Jim's books will be available for purchase and the author
will be happy to sign and personalize copies.
Free and open to all.
